The Japanese motorcycle brand Honda emerged from the need to improve mobility economically in Japan in the mid-1940s. The founder of Honda, Soichiro Honda, a mechanic by profession, had the idea of mounting small leftover auxiliary engines on bicycles, which later led him to develop his first proprietary engine.
In 1948, Honda Motor Company was founded, and the following year saw the release of the first motorcycle entirely designed and developed by Honda, called the ‘Dream’ D-Type.
Honda arrived in Spain selling small agricultural machinery and, later in the 1980s, acquired the legendary Spanish motorcycle company Montesa. Under the Montesa Honda brand, it began manufacturing motorcycles in the country with great sales success, including the MBX road models, the Scoopy for city use, and the Cota for trials.
Today, Honda is one of the manufacturers competing in the Motorcycle World Championship, holding numerous victories with its Repsol Honda team. Its strong commitment to competition and racing experience has been the foundation for the evolution, development, and production of its motorcycle models, especially in the sport range.
